The stevedores have called off the four days of strike in the Spanish ports scheduled from this Friday after the Congress repealed the decree law stowed by the Government.
Scheduled work stoppages began today and continued on alternate days next week: Monday 20, Wednesday 22 and Friday 24. Stevedores from all Spanish ports were called to stop during all the odd hours of those days. These strikes, in addition to the State Maritime Workers’ Coordinator, the majority union of stevedores, were also called by CC OO, UGT, CIG and USO.
This is the fourth time trade unions in the sector have called off the strike action. Previously it was always done after postponements by the Government to submit the decree law to the Council of Ministers, or after delaying on several occasions the debate and vote of the reform in Parliament.
For the moment there is no provision for mobilization in ports. A relative calm that will depend on what happens in the coming days in the negotiations between unions and employers and in the decisions taken by the Government.
The negotiation between the parties will resume on Tuesday 21st.
